The app solves a specific problem that the web version does not. When you open a web browser you are looking for something. When you pick up your phone, you are not, and that is where the app does its work.

Reminders land on the lock screen instead of the inbox

The main reason to install it is push notifications. Session reminders used to slide into an email inbox at the bottom of two hundred other messages. In the app they arrive on your lock screen, the moment a session is confirmed or cancelled or rescheduled.

The same goes for chat messages from coaches and committees. If your club's committee posts an announcement, or a coach sends a tactical note before a match, it lands on the lock screen where you will see it in the next thirty seconds, not in an inbox backlog from six months ago.

Web push works too, on any browser that supports it, though on an iPhone it only becomes available once the site has been saved to the home screen. The app delivers the same notifications natively on both platforms, with no setup step first.

One tap, already signed in

The app sits on your home screen. Tap it and you land exactly where you left off, because you stay signed in. You do not need to type a password or scan a code every time you want to check the session list or send a message.

If you use multiple devices, each one keeps its own sign-in session. If you sign out, or if you change your password, the app signs you out too. Otherwise it stays open and ready.

Every club you belong to, in one place

Many parents have children in different clubs. Many coaches volunteer at more than one. Switching used to mean signing out and signing in again. The app switches between them without signing out, so if your daughter plays netball on Mondays and rugby on Wednesdays, you can check both clubs' sessions without leaving the app.

Belong to five clubs and you can move between all five from inside the same app. If you are an assistant coach at two of them and a parent at a third, what you see adjusts to your role at whichever club you have open.

Members sign in with the ClubPal account they already use on the web, the same email address and password. Most people have one either because their club invited them or because they registered themselves at their club's ClubPal address. If you have not got one yet, you can register in the app just as you would in a browser. Either way there is no separate app account to set up and no invite code to hunt for.

How a club tells its members

Send your members a link to /get-the-app. It works on iPhone and Android and sends each device to the right store. You can put it in a members email, on a poster by the door, on a QR code, in the newsletter, anywhere a text link works. One link for both platforms means your committee does not need to choose or manage two of them.

Your club never pays for the app

ClubPal is free for clubs to run, with no subscription and no setup fee. The app is free for members and committees. The only time ClubPal takes a fee is when a club collects a payment for a course or an event: a small amount per transaction, and nothing in a month where a club collects no money.

If your club just sends session reminders and coordinates rotas, it costs nothing.
