Your homepage

Arrange your club homepage with the page editor, show visitors and members different content, and restore the default layout.

Your homepage is built from the same sections and blocks as the rest of your content pages, so you can arrange it yourself instead of living with a fixed layout. Click Edit Page on the homepage and the editor works exactly as it does anywhere else, see Page editor for the full reference.

This page covers the parts that are specific to the homepage.

The default layout

Until you change it, your homepage is a single 30 / 70 section:

Narrow left column

  • A Text block with your welcome message, shown to logged out visitors.
  • A Login Buttons block with Register and Sign in, shown to logged out visitors.
  • A Member Summary block, shown to logged in members, with their photo and name, a link to their profile, a renewal prompt if their membership has lapsed, their next booking, their next session to coach, and their upcoming events.

Wide right column

  • An Upcoming block listing the next six sessions and events together, with a featured sessions carousel and Upcoming / Recently Added tabs.

Every one of those is an ordinary block. Reorder them, change their settings, delete the ones you do not want, or add anything else the editor offers.

One page, two audiences

A signed-out visitor and a signed-in member see the same homepage, so most homepage blocks are set to a single audience rather than Everyone. That is what the default layout does: the welcome text and sign in buttons are set to Logged out visitors, and the member summary to Logged in members.

Set each block's audience from the visibility icon on its toolbar, then use Preview in the edit bar to check both, see Choosing who sees a block.

Your welcome message

The welcome message used to be a field under Admin > General Settings. It is now a Text block on the homepage, so it can be formatted, moved, and shown alongside anything else.

Note

Your existing welcome message was moved into that block automatically the first time your homepage loaded, along with the content of the old homepage content section for signed-in members, if you had one. Nothing was lost, and there is nothing to copy across yourself.

The homepage still supports a banner image behind the page title, set with the Banner button in the page toolbar. That is separate from the blocks on the page, see Club branding.

Reverting to the default layout

Revert to Default in the edit bar puts the standard ClubPal homepage back, exactly as described in The default layout.

Warning

This replaces whatever is currently on your homepage, including your welcome text, which is rebuilt from the default wording rather than what you had written. Your previous layout is still in Version history if you need it back.

What the homepage does not have

Unlike a custom content page, the homepage has no Manage Page settings. It has no separate URL, cannot be unpublished, and cannot be made members only. It always lives at the root of your site and is always reachable. To show different content to members, use each block's audience instead.

You also cannot create a content page with a URL of home, since that address belongs to the homepage.
