A Getting started checklist, an editable homepage built from content blocks, one dialog for changing a booking, admin membership edits, store order cancellation and nineteen more supported countries.
A big release. New clubs get a Getting started checklist, your homepage is now yours to edit, changing a booking is one dialog instead of two menu items, and admins can adjust a membership or cancel a store order without leaving the page they are on.
New features
Getting started
New clubs now have a checklist that walks through setting ClubPal up, and it stays around afterwards to point out features you have not tried yet. It appears as a card on your admin dashboard, as a Getting started item in the admin menu, and as a slim progress bar on your public site that only admins can see.
- The setup items: add your logo and colours, write your homepage welcome, create your first session, add a membership package, add your members, and connect payments. Items only appear if the feature is switched on for your club, so a club not taking payments is never asked to connect them.
- Three ways to add members: import from a spreadsheet, add someone manually, or copy your join link to send out.
- More to explore: below the setup items sit optional ones, such as creating a pass, adding a product, creating an event, building a form, and setting up facility hire. They do not count towards your progress, so turning on another feature never pushes the finish line further away.
- Skip anything that does not apply, or use Skip setup to clear the lot. Skipped items stay in a muted group with an Undo link, so nothing is a one-way door.
- The card reappears by itself when a future release adds something new worth trying.
An editable homepage
Your homepage is now built from the same sections and blocks as the rest of your content pages, so you can arrange it yourself instead of living with a fixed layout. Click Edit Page and the editing controls appear in a single bar at the bottom of the screen.
- Three new blocks: Upcoming (the next sessions and events on one list), My Club (a member's own bookings and membership summary) and a sign in / register block for visitors.
- Per-block visibility: set any block to Visible to: Everyone, Logged out visitors or Logged in members, so a signed-out visitor and a signed-in member can be shown different homepages from one page.
- Viewing as preview: switch between the two audiences while editing, without publishing, to check each one reads properly.
- Version history with preview: pick an earlier version, see it in place on the page, then restore it only if it is the one you wanted. Revert to Default puts the standard ClubPal homepage back.
One dialog for changing a booking
Swap Booking and Cancel Booking used to sit side by side in the same menu, which put the better option behind the worse one. Both now open a single Change Booking dialog that leads with the sessions the booking can move to, grouped by week, with cancelling kept behind an explicit button. Sessions that are full say so plainly rather than carrying a quiet badge, and a member inside the refund window is told that cancelling loses the payment while moving keeps it.
Edit an existing membership
Admins can now change a member's expiry date and switch them to a different package from either the member's profile or the package detail page, using the new Edit Membership option. No payment is taken and no refund is issued, the change is administrative only.
- Available for Active, Trial, Lapsed and Pending Approval memberships.
- Extending a lapsed membership reinstates it as active.
- Switching package keeps the existing expiry date, so a straight swap does not move the member's renewal. Change the date yourself when it should.
- Group membership follows the same rules as expiry, and auto-renewal is turned off if the new package does not allow renewals.
- Every change is recorded in the membership's notes, along with an optional reason you can type in.
Cancel a store order
Admins with Manage Store permission can now cancel an order from the order detail page, the store orders list or a member's own order list. The Cancel Order window offers an optional message to the member, Refund the member (on by default, hidden when nothing was paid) and Return items to stock (on by default, so you can leave it off when the goods are lost or damaged).
The refund is taken first, so a declined refund leaves the order untouched and you can try again or cancel without refunding. Cancelled orders release any discount code use and are excluded from your sales figures.
Swap a waiting list booking
Swapping now covers waiting list bookings, not just confirmed ones. A member waiting for a place can move to a different session rather than cancelling and rebooking, which would refund and recharge them along with a second payment provider fee. Because a waiting list booking is not holding a place, it can be swapped right up until the session starts, and swapping it away does not promote anyone else. The confirmation email says whether the member ended up with a place or a spot on the new session's waiting list.
Nineteen more supported countries
ClubPal can now be set up by clubs across the eurozone, alongside the existing United Kingdom, Ireland, United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Malta. Newly added are Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia and Spain, all paying out by IBAN.
Last sign-in on the members list
The admin members list has a new sortable Last Login column, so you can find members who have not signed in for a while. It is included in the CSV and Excel export alongside everything else on the list.
Improvements
- Events: an Event Website button now appears on the event page when you have given the event an external web address.
- Events: eligibility rules only appear on the event editor once ticket sales are switched on, since they only ever gate ticket purchases.
- Homepage: the Sessions card is now Upcoming and lists the next six sessions and events together, rather than sessions on their own.
Bug fixes
- Events set to Club visibility are now shown to everyone, including visitors who are not signed in. Only Private events stay hidden.
- Fixed the search box on the session check-in page not filtering the list.
- Fixed the Tickets and RSVP switches on the event editor always saving as enabled, so turning either off did not stick.
- Fixed the Link button in the content editor doing nothing, or losing what you typed, when the editor was opened inside a pop-up window.
- Fixed paging on the Admin > Facility Hire > Bookings list showing the wrong set of rows.
- Tidied the layout of Admin > Settings > Payments and of blog pages on small screens.
