You can cancel a club event at any time, including a single occurrence of a recurring event.

## Who can cancel an event

You can cancel a club event if you have the **Manage Events** [permission](https://www.clubpal.app/docs/general/permissions).

## How to cancel an event

1. Go to the event detail page for the event you want to cancel.
2. Click the **actions (⋯) menu** next to the event title.
3. Select **Cancel Event...**.

For a [recurring event](https://www.clubpal.app/docs/events/creating-events#schedule), you're asked what you want to cancel:

- **This occurrence**: cancels only the date you navigated from.
- **A date range**: cancels every occurrence between two dates.
- **The entire series**: cancels this occurrence and every future occurrence. Past occurrences are not affected.

For a single, non-recurring event, this step is skipped and you go straight to the cancellation options below.

## Cancellation options

**Issue refunds**
Shown when the event has paid ticket orders. Enable this to automatically [refund](https://www.clubpal.app/docs/payments/refunds) every confirmed ticket order affected by the cancellation.

**Send cancellation email?**
When enabled, ClubPal emails every ticket holder and RSVP'd attendee affected by the cancellation to let them know the event is cancelled.

**Message**
An optional message included in the cancellation email, for example an explanation or details of next steps.

**Cancellation reason**
A required note explaining why the event is being cancelled. This is recorded against the event for your own records and is separate from the optional message sent to members.

Click **Cancel Event** to confirm.

> **Warning**
>
> Cancelling an event cannot be undone. Any confirmed ticket orders affected by the cancellation are cancelled, along with a refund if you chose to issue one.

## What members see

A cancelled event or occurrence is marked as cancelled and no longer accepts RSVPs or ticket purchases. Members who had confirmed tickets have their orders cancelled, and receive a cancellation email if you chose to send one.
